Default Okay please help

I recently added Nightfall and Eye of the North as a returning player. I am really lost.

Yesterday I tried for a couple of hours to find the NPC for HoM with no luck. I ran around and around the Marketplace and K city (can't remember the name) and the Byway area - kept running into walls or buildings I couldn't get thru.

1)Is there a way to put the name of NPC in and get a "yellow brick road" to follow? Or some way to find what you are looking for (other than going in the direction of the green arrow on map)?

I got a 'pop-up' with the name I was looking for BUT it was so fast I only remember "Minister" (???) something.

I went into the wiki and found a map but it is only a screen shot and I can't figure out the Exact Route to take to get there.

2)So is there a map that isn't a screen shot but a more basic Map somewhere?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking...

If you are looking for the Hall of Monuments, it's in the Eye of the North outpost named Eye of the North. You aren't going to find the HoM in the Factions campaign.

If you're looking for the NPC that gives you the quest to go to EoTN, he's in Kaineng Center. His name is Minister of Maintenance Raiugyon, and he is located just up the stairs when you enter the city from the south-east portal.
You can hold the Alt key and it will show you all NPC names. Just click one and auto-walk to it.

Ohhh ALT key - Perfect! Thank you sooooo much.

Yes - I got to Kaineng Center and got the pop-up with the name but didn't have time to write it down - just remembered Minister.....something.

So I went to Wiki and tried to find info - got the screenshot map but couldn't get thru/around walls/buildings to get where I thought I needed to be.

VERY helpful - thanks again!!

Minister of Maintenance Raiugyon is in the north-central plaza where several other important NPCs stand (quest-givers, Imperial Quartermasters, Luxon Bard, Kurzick Poet). If you map travel to Kaineng City you often arrive right in this plaza. This is the area you must pass through to reach the portal to Raisu Pavilion, and is up the north set of stairs from the area where the henchies stand.

You aren't obligated to travel to EotN from Cantha, even if the character is a native Canthan. You can just as easily take the travel quest in Lion's Arch or Kamadan. In fact, I think both of those are slightly easier if you have heroes, since they're designed for smaller party sizes.

FYI - the little pop-up happens every time you enter KC (if the NPC hasn't been talked to), so in future (for other similar events), if it goes by too fast, just re-zone to see it again.

Soo much to learn!

Any other goodies I have missed - the ALT key is going to be a LIFESAVER!!! Amazed that I have missed that.

Brett - that will be useful for my alt's when I get to that point - thanks.

Re-zone - LOL - never thought about that but didn't know that the pop-up would happen again - thanks!

Holding Ctrl shows enemies, pressing C targets the closest enemy and tab targets the next enemy.. and space auto attacks. Those are ones everyone should know.

Also another one that can be useful is targeting the closest NPC (I used it for snowball dominance when it was impossible to click on the name). For me it is the ; key, but I can't remember if I assigned it to this, or if it already was that. It is also useful when in busy districts and trying to get to storage.

One of the delightful things about Kaineng city is that getting from A to B isn't always clear.
Often you get into a dead end or find yourself above or below your target point.

Default key is V.

The ; key on a default keyboard would be Pick up Nearest Item.

If you want to see all the actions that you can keybind, press f11 and go to Controls.

Welcome back

Don't take this the wrong way, but ALT and CTRL are fundamentals for most people. The sticky that they're mentioned in is the game manual.

If you've been away for that long, you might want to bust that thing out and give it a once-over. You may pick up a couple other useful things that you've missed/forgotten. (for instance, by default, you can press C to target the nearest enemy, and then SPACE to attack it)

Welcome back to a dynamite game, though! Have fun!

The manual that came with the original - hmmm - good idea. As for the others - my new Eye of the North came with almost no info and I did the digital download for Nightfall.

Yup - Way out of touch!

HOW the heck do you KNEEL??? I can't find that anywhere.

in case you lost the old manuals and such

from the looks of the questions you have in here, this:
ftp://ftp.guildwars.com/downloads/gwn-qrc-en.pdf

might be extremely helpful.

Just throwing this in as a suggestion for those who can afford to do it.

For years now I have used a secondary gaming keyboard for my off hand.
This enables me to keep similar commands to the same key across many games.

For all my first person shooter games for instance I use exactly the same key for reload change weapon kneel etc no matter which game I am in.

I try to do the same for GW style games I find it works really well as it has a very comfortable layout.

If I could afford one of the all singing all dancing keyboards I would.
Until then my old TM tac board will do just fine.
